Adulting can be lots of fun. You get to earn and spend your own money however you want; you go on trips and you eat great food. As you’re all grown up now, you can even get your own place and set it up any way you like, including your master bedroom.

Master bedroom. It has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? Here are some important things all grown-ups should have in their bedroom.

10 Important Items That Grown-Ups Should Have in Their Bedrooms

1. A sturdy bed frame

What’s a bedroom without a bed, right? Otherwise, you might as well just bunk in your living room. Having a mattress on the floor is not necessarily a bad thing, but they are meant to breathe above ground to prevent molds from accumulating. Get a nice bed frame and this problem is solved.

2. A quality mattress

You can’t have a bed frame and leave the mattress out. They go hand-in-hand. Look for one with great quality because adulthood, especially your back, requires a high-quality mattress that will support your body. There are several great beds, like those Myers beds in Kent, that you can try out in specialty shops to see how they feel.

3. A nightstand

Every adult needs a bedside table not just for aesthetic purposes but for functionality, too. You can place your important items on it like a night lamp, you reading glasses, mobile devices, and other trinkets.

4. Some plants

Having some greens in your bedroom adds life to it. Small plants or succulents placed in a corner or a shelf adds a touch of fresh air. Having the right plants could even enhance your relaxation and give you a good night’s sleep.

5. Several throw pillows

Throw pillows are always a fun thing to have around. Whether they’re in the living room, the breakfast nook, or your bedroom, they help make you more comfortable.

6. A decent headboard

While headboards don’t add any functionality to your bed, it does add more aesthetic appeal and a touch of class to your place of privacy. You are, after all, already an adult. There’s no better time to get classy than now.

7. A nice area rug

Area rugs provide a sense of comfort and coziness to any space. If you want to make your room a little more cozy and inviting and give it a little character and personality, an area rug is a sure way to get the job done.

8. Some real furniture

As adults deal with real-life situations, we think it’s only right that it translates to furniture as well. Do yourself a favor and invest in real furniture and ditch the old plastic ones that you’ve been using since you were 12.

9. A large mirror

It is important for grown-ups to always look presentable and decent. You’ll never know when you might be called in for a meeting with your boss or bump into a potential client or even meet somebody cute. Having a large enough mirror will help you fix up better and check yourself out before leaving the house.

10. Floor-to-ceiling curtains

Your place of privacy would not be as private without curtains to protect you from the outside world. Invest in a few sets of nice floor-to-ceiling curtains that go well with your bedroom’s overall look. One of the advantages of this curtain is it gives the illusion that your bedroom is bigger than it actually is. You just need to figure out how you want to hang them, but other than that, the right curtains are elegant pieces to have in any room.

There are a lot of other fun things you can add to this list. Artwork, wall decor, night lamps and other light sources, display racks, and shelves. You can dress up your bedroom to fit your personality. After all, you will spend a third of your life in it so might as well have a ball coming up with your dream bedroom.
